How to Plan For Your Best Year Ever

I hope you’re having a peaceful and joyful Christmas season!

One of my favourite things about this time of year is planning for the new year ahead. I take a moment to ask myself, What kind of woman do I want to become? Then, I write down actionable steps to help me get there. In today’s post, I’m sharing my tried-and-true method for planning your best year yet.

For years now, creating a vision board has been a cornerstone of my routine. I also like to do a mid-year review around my birthday in June to reassess my goals. I’ll be honest—sticking to these plans consistently is something I’m still working on (a topic for another blog post!). But having a clear plan for the year gives me direction, purpose, and a spark of excitement for what’s to come. Plus, knowing I’ve prayed over these plans gives me peace and assurance.

Whether you’re a seasoned vision board creator or trying it for the first time, I hope this method inspires you to create your most meaningful year yet.

1. Reflect on the past year

Start by taking stock of where you are. What were the highlights of the past year? What lessons did you learn about yourself and others? What held you back, and what propelled you forward? Which goals did you achieve, and which dreams are still waiting for their moment? Answering these questions will help you understand where you stand as you plan for the next chapter.

2. Choose where to write your plan

Pick a place that makes it easy to revisit your plan regularly. For years, I used a notebook inspired by the bullet journaling method—it worked really well, and I loved having it nearby for quick check-ins. Recently, I switched to creating my vision board on Notion using a template I’ve loved for the past few years. Find what works best for you, whether it’s physical or digital.

3. Invite God into the process

Before you begin planning, spend some time in prayer, asking God to guide your vision for the year ahead. You can also play worship music or your favorite Christian songs to invite His presence into the moment. Trust that He cares about every detail of your life and has a perfect plan for you.

4. Use the Level 10 Life template as a guide

The Level 10 Life method divides your life into categories like spirituality, family and friends, love life, personal development, finances, career, fun and recreation, giving, physical environment, and health. I find this structure so helpful for defining clear, balanced goals across every area of my life.

5. Dream big

Take each category one by one and dream boldly! If there were no limits, what would your ideal life look like? What goals would you pursue? Allow yourself to dream big, knowing that nothing is impossible with God. If you struggle with this, I recommend reading The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz—it’s an inspiring resource.

6. Write the vision down

“Write the vision and make it plain…” (Habakkuk 2:2-3). For each category, write a paragraph describing your vision as though it’s already your reality. For example, in the health category, I might write, “I nourish my body with whole foods, exercise four times a week, and feel energised and confident in my body.”

7. Break it down into actionable steps

To bring your vision to life, break it down into small, actionable steps. For example, if your goal is to improve your health, your steps might include meal prepping weekly, scheduling workouts, or creating a morning routine. If you need help, tools like ChatGPT can be surprisingly effective—just type in your vision and ask for monthly, weekly, and daily tasks to support it.

8. Review regularly

Congrats, girl—you’ve written your vision and created actionable steps! The next key to success is consistency. Make time to review your plan regularly. On those low-motivation days, your vision will remind you why you started. I like to read mine at least monthly to stay on track.

Planning your year with God at the center is such a beautiful and purposeful way to start fresh. I pray this method helps you dream boldly and create a life you love. Here’s to your best year yet! xx
